Drawing Well-Being 1.0

2012

This project was part of my master’s thesis at ITP, NYU. Through an interactive website and a collection of books, “Drawing Well-Being” aims to raise awareness of living standards and development in various countries by visualizing data from the United Nations.

The data, visualized on the website and in four sample books focused on Chile, India, Senegal, and the U.S., is derived from the UN’s Human Development Report 2011, Sustainability and Equity: A Better Future for All. Both the books and the website were designed to present national well-being through various indicators such as life expectancy at birth, ecological footprint, mean years of schooling, seats in parliament held by women, and overall life satisfaction. The website features interactive tools to help users explore and compare the performance of different countries. Overall, the visualizations aim to make the data more accessible to a broader audience.
