This website is part of my masters thesis project for the Interactive Telecommunication Program (ITP) at New York University. The central purpose of my project is to raise awareness about well-being and development by visualizing data from the United Nation’s Human Development Report 2011 , Sustainability and Equity: A Better Future for All. The visualizations I’ve created are presented in a collection of books, one for each country, which are integrated with this website specifically designed to enhance the books.

The data displayed here and on the books corresponds to a selection of the data published in the UN’s Human Development Report. Both the books and the website are designed with the aim of presenting well-being in a visual way through various related indicators such as life expectancy at birth, ecological footprint, mean years of schooling, seats in parliament held by women, overall life satisfaction, etc. My visualizations have been designed to make access to the UN’s well-being data more accessible to a broader range of people.

The website has been designed as a complement to the books. Within it you will find several interactive tools to help you explore and compare the performance of individual countries with each other.
